Leland Cogliani has over 15 years of experience working on Department of Energy basic and applied research and development programs as well as national security issues related to nuclear weapons and nonproliferation activities.
Cogliani is presently an advisor with Lewis-Burke Associates LLC. Prior to joining Lewis-Burke, he was the lead Senate staff member with budget responsibility over the National Nuclear Security Administration, the Office of Science, the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E), and other Defense programs. Before this, he was a senior analyst in the Natural Resources and Environment Division at the U.S. Government Accountability Office with oversight responsibilities over U.S. nuclear weapons and nuclear nonproliferation programs.
He has authored more than a dozen reports to Congress on science and national security issues, including life extension programs of nuclear warheads, the U.S. fusion program, and the International Atomic Energy Agency nuclear safeguards activities.
